Restaurant Week is Back!!
For some people, it’s Fiesta, others it’s Fourth of July or New Year’s, but for me, my favorite time of year in San Antonio is Restaurant Week!
This is when some of the biggest (and most expensive) restaurants in San Antonio offer up a menu for a greatly reduced price. It’s worth the trip to San Antonio to sample some of the best cuisine available, and perhaps celebrate an anniversary or birthday or just get away for a little romance.
Restaurant Week (now called Culinaria, it seems) used to be over my birthday, but this year it’s a week earlier, Aug. 18 – 25th. Darn. That means I will have to eat out all week before my birthday AND on my birthday. ;-) Here’s a list of some of the participating restaurants: http://culinariasa.org/wine-festival/main/restaurants.php
Bon Appétit!
Get away before the fall rush!
Kids are getting ready for school but there’s still time to send them to a friend’s for a night or two and slip away for a much-needed escape. Come and be pampered and prepare for the start of the busy school year.
USTA McFarlin Tennis Tournament
One of the largest adult tennis tournaments in San Antonio is taking place this weekend, July 6-8, at McFarlin Tennis Center, which is just four blocks away from us. Come on down and watch some great tennis!
Fourth of July Fireworks!
San Antonio has announced that fireworks will be allowed this year! The Chamber of Commerce is bringing San Antonio’s largest and longest fireworks spectacular to the skies over downtown for the first annual Stars & Stripes over San Antonio, an Independence Day celebration. Twenty minutes of eye-popping sky explosions will light up the night at our beloved HemisFair Park and will be visible for miles. There will be live music, food, drinks and activities.
The Inn is in a position to be surrounded by fireworks, as Woodlawn Park will also have fireworks and if Ft. Sam has them, these are also visible from the Inn. Combine the holiday with a romantic getaway and you will be seeing fireworks all night.
We still have availability, so come on in and make this a memorable Fourth of July!
Celebration Package
Shakespeare in the Park
This coming weekend (May 30-June 2) come and enjoy Othello at the Botanical Gardens. These innovative productions are always a treat, especially in such beautiful surroundings. The Botanical Garden is only a couple of miles north of us!
Fiesta 2012 begins!
If you are familiar with San Antonio, then you probably know about Fiesta. For those of you who haven’t heard of it, it’s the biggest, longest party of the year. Events have already begun and there are many more to come. The River Parade was Monday night. The Battle of the Flowers parade on Friday, April 27 means the kids get a day off of school. NIOSA (Night in Old San Antonio) began on Tuesday and will continue throughout the week. And the Fiesta Flambeau Parade is the largest illuminated parade in the nation. But you don’t have to take my word for it, check out a partial schedule of events at http://www.fiesta-sa.org/events/all-events/ and the link below has even more.
Event Summary:
Fiesta San Antonio is an 11-day celebration with parades, festivals, art shows, musical performances, games, parties, sports tournaments, and kid-friendly events. What started as a one-day parade in 1891 to commemorate the history of Texas has evolved to over 100 events. http://saevents.com/Events/Events.asp?CatFiestaSA=y
